Dear Parents and Guardians,
This has been an extremely busy week with lots of visitors from right across the globe as well as locally. This highlights the continuing strong interest and draw that the College has with prospective students and their families.
We were also very honoured to have Mr Mark Hammond, the Headmaster of Skippers Hill Manor Preparatory School visit us this week.
On Thursday the Year 9 Parents’ Evening started with a presentation on the options that these pupils can take.
The Invitational 7’s Rugby got underway with a fantastic training afternoon at Farthingloe as we hosted friends from King’s Canterbury, Duke of York’s, Dover Grammar School for Boys and The Harvey Grammar School at Senior and U16 level. Over 100 boys showcased some great rugby skills in preparation for the Kent Rugby Football Union and The Society of Heads. A huge thank you to Mr Butt for organising this event.
Tomorrow, Saturday 2nd March, we have our Whole School Open Day and we have had a huge interest from parents reserving places for the day. We look forward to this event and to meeting our ‘new’ friends of Dover College.
Sebastian Powell in Year 8 represented his Rugby Club and the College last Saturday as he was picked to be part of the Saracens Rugby Development programme. Sebastian, along with a number of other elite rugby players from Kent travelled to Allianz Park to have high level coaching from the Saracens top coaches and players. The sessions last throughout the year and Sebastian said how good it was and he has picked up a number of new skills already. We wish him all the best and hope that he puts these new skills in place for his upcoming matches.
World Book Day Preparation
On Wednesday morning this week, Year 6 presented a well-received Chapel Service, ensuring pupils and staff of the Junior School are geared up for World Book Day next week. They travelled back in time a few years to recall their favourite childhood story characters and created their own thoroughly entertaining sketches!
Mr Annakie has been selected to represent Jamaica in the Rugby Americas North 15-a-side tournament. The game is being held in Bermuda at The Bermuda National Stadium on Saturday 9th March 2019.
We wish you the best of luck Mr Annakie!
Mrs Hebblethwaite’s wished to give a flavour of the effort being made by her Year 7 Spanish class. In particular, this week, Thai Deekes (Priory).
“Thai is constantly challenging himself to learn as much Spanish as possible and demonstrates great enthusiasm and impress independent learning skills,” says Mrs Hebblethwaite.
His revision poster for the classes’ latest topic is fantastic!
