The girls had a really tough at the office, coming up against some very good opposition and were unable to come away with a win from their series of games.

U13 Football vs NPS
A tale of two halves. A period of intense pressure in the first half from our visitors was repelled time after time by Archie Grove, playing very well in goal. Unfortunately, Callum Johnson decided he could do a better job but as he wasn’t in possession of the gloves at the time, the referee had no choice but to award a penalty, which Northbourne duly put away. After some inspirational words by skipper Harry at half time, we came out all guns blazing and Callum atoned for his earlier mistake with a smartly taken shot just inside the area to level the game. Despite having the best of the play in the second half, we couldn’t break them down and it finished 1-1 after a very entertaining game.
U13 Granville Hockey at Ashford
The U13 girls finished in 2nd place overall, a terrific result given that both A and B team goalkeepers were unavailable. A narrow loss to Kings Rochester was the only downside of the day, with strong team performances in a win against Ashford and a 2-2 draw against Sir Roger Manwood’s.

U16 Football vs Gad’s Hill (courtesy JP)
On Thursday our Under 16's took on Gad's Hill for what would be only their second game. The team looked in good shape during training with key players becoming fit again. With some slick passing football and stern defending (the opposition were prevented from even taking one shot on goal) we eased past a resilient Gad's team to win 7-0 with 4 goals from Jack Hanson and one apiece for Leo Tardieu, Antoine Chaumont and Ryan Sewell. The team decided it was not possible to name a man of the match as it was a fantastic team performance.
Senior Granville Hockey at Kings Rochester
The 1st XI finished 4th out of 8 teams. A convincing win in the first match against Bethany placed the girls in the top tier Cup competition, which meant two very difficult games against A teams from Ashford and Kings Rochester. Had we lost the first match we may well have gone on to win the plate but playing tougher opposition was valuable experience for all involved.
