Head of Music & Music Technology: Full-Time

Job Start - September 2019

Dover College is seeking a Head of Music & Music Technology who can exert leadership, promote efficient co-operation within the department with an aim of providing a stimulating educational experience for all pupils. The selected individual should be able to foster an environment where pupils enjoy and respect music, develop a love for it and know how to celebrate a variety of musical genres. It should be commonplace for pupils to play one or more instruments and to share their skill through performance within the College and publicly.

The role may suit a young, ambitious music teacher who aspires to a Director of Music post in time at a large school.

Teacher of Science: Full-Time

Job Start - September 2019

Dover College is looking for an innovative and enthusiastic teacher of Science to provide a stimulating educational experience for pupils. This vacancy could suit either an NQT or a more experienced teacher looking to broaden their experience.

The successful candidate must be able to teach all three Science subjects to GCSE Level, a specialist science at A Level (Physics is desirable) and co-teach BTEC Applied Science. There is also the opportunity to instil a love of Science in pupils from Year 5 up to Year 8.

Our staff think differently and you will be expected to help students develop a scientific understanding of the world, encourage the development of an enquiring mind through thematic teaching and help them to ask the right questions and learn research techniques that will serve them and our planet well in the future.

Since many students at the College are EAL speakers, the successful applicant should be particularly adept at differentiating for EAL speakers and supporting the development of English skills through the delivery of the Science curriculum.

Teacher of Geography & Outdoor Education: Full-Time

Job Start - September 2019

Dover College is looking to appoint a dynamic, ambitious and inspirational teacher to lead our excellent Geography provision and champion our commitment to Outdoor Education. This vacancy could suit either an NQT or a more experienced teacher looking to broaden their experience.

Geography is a popular option in the exam years and is compulsory in the new curriculum at KS3. As a Geography teacher, you will be expected to be innovative in approach inside and outside the classroom and there is considerable flexibility with the content of the curriculum at KS3. The ethos is to think differently and embrace skills-based learning at all levels.

Field work and Outdoor Education are seen as an important component of the provision of Geography but there is also a strong international element helped by the many different backgrounds and culture of the pupils. The successful candidate will work with the Head of Leadership and Service to ensure that the quality of Outdoor Education is at its very best and with the Head of Humanities to ensure that the delivery of Geography is fast-paced, contemporary and innovative.

Applicants should possess excellent communication and organisational skills, be hard working, flexible and professional.  They should have high expectations of students, colleagues and self, displaying energy and enthusiasm in and out of the classroom, contributing to the school’s overall success.  A willingness to contribute to other areas of school life is essential.

Teacher of ICT: Part-Time

Job Start - September 2019

Dover College is looking for a teacher of ICT (Computer Science & Digital IT) to provide a stimulating educational experience for all pupils. Foster an environment where pupils enjoy and respect Computing, develop a love for design and coding. Know how to prepare students for a variety of career pathways in IT: AI, VR and iMEDIA. It should be commonplace for pupils to use Raspberry Pi, code, write gaming programmes and to share their skills through the school’s digital platform within the College and publicly.

Teacher of Maths: Full-Time, Temporary (Maternity Cover)

Dover College seeks to appoint a Teacher of Maths to cover a period of maternity leave. The candidate will continue to build on our excellent academic results by offering creativity, insight, wisdom and vision to the classroom and your pupils.

The successful candidate will have a love of mathematics in general, be able to teach pupils with a range of abilities, and foster high quality teaching and learning skills.
