Upon the retirement of Duncan Ellerington after 15 years of exemplary service, Dover College is seeking an exceptional Director of Studies to lead all teaching and learning at College into the next stage of its development.

The successful candidate will have worked as a Head of Department or a Director of Studies in an academically ambitious school, and will understand the rhythms and expectations of a 24/7 boarding environment. He or she will be well-qualified with a proven track record, energetic, ambitious, with an understanding of how to use data, make decisions, lead staff, think strategically and consistently show good judgement.

Experience of implementing change would be a distinct advantage, and experience of various curricula, including the IB and IGCSE, is essential. The Director of Studies will be a key member of the College’s senior management team and should be ambitious to move on to headship within 5 years.

Housemaster

Upon the appointment of the present post holder to the post of Head of Boarding at Roedean School, Dover College is seeking an experienced Housemaster to lead a busy and energetic boys’ boarding house from September 2018. 

The successful candidate will act “in loco parentis” for up to 50 11 – 18 year old boys, providing all boarders and day pupils with the best possible experience of a boarding education by ensuring a challenging and supportive environment.  A core part of the role will be to ensure the safety, good discipline and pastoral well-being of all boarders.  The new Housemaster will be expected to manage staffing, organisation and resources of the Boarding House effectively and efficiently. 

The Housemaster appointed will be line-managed by the Deputy Head, will be a member of the Housemaster’s committee, and will have an opportunity to play a central role in the marketing of the College. The post-holder will be provided with private family accommodation within the House, and would be supported by a resident assistant housemaster and other resident staff as agreed with the Deputy Head.

The successful candidate will have had extensive experience of working in a boarding environment, will be emotionally intelligent and have an understanding of the pivotal role of pastoral care both for present pupils and for onward recruitment and retention. A commitment to visibility in the House and the College is essential.

A spacious four bedroom house is provided with the role, with a study inside the boarding house.

Dover College seeks to appoint a Head of Science who will continue to build on our excellent academic results by offering creativity, insight, wisdom and vision to the development of the College’s already excellent provision for Science. 

The Head of Science is expected to have gained valuable experience managing staff and it is essential that the candidate has experience of working with pupils at Senior School level.  The new Head of Science will be expected to contribute fully to the extra-curricular life of the College.

Our ideal candidate will be capable of initiating and implementing a creative, strategic approach towards the development of the Science Department which will support and enhance the wide variety of opportunities on offer.  They will advise and support the Headmaster and the Deputy Head with the College’s ambitious programme for the development of the Science Department.  This key role will require an excellent knowledge and understanding of the provision of Science.

Teacher of Maths

Dover College seeks to appoint a teacher of Maths who will continue to build on our excellent academic results by offering creativity, insight, wisdom and vision to the classroom and his / her pupils.

The successful candidate will teach KS3, KS4 and A level. There is also the possibility of some AS/A level Economics teaching if suitably qualified, but this is not essential.

The successful candidate will have a love of mathematics in general, be able to teach pupils with a range of abilities, and foster high quality teaching and learning skills. We welcome applications from NQTs.

Locum Bursar

Minibus Driver

Purpose                           To transport pupils from their homes to school and return in a prompt, professional and safe manner.  To                                                      keep the interior and exterior of the minibus you are responsible for clean and tidy. 

This is a great opportunity for professional driver to join our team in a prestigious Boarding and Day School in Dover.  This role will see the successful candidate transport pupils to and from Dover College as part of their School day.  As a customer facing role and one which will represent Dover College externally, this position requires a high level of professionalism as well as a genuine desire to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all the pupils in your care. The successful applicant is required to have a full clean driving license and meet legal conditions and regulations to drive minibuses. You must have very high standards both in presentation and Health and safety and provide excellent customer service and team work is crucial. A uniform will be provided.

The role is part-time (approximately 10 hours per week).  There will be additional allocated paid time each week to clean your minibus.  Some additional overtime may be available. The successful candidate will receive paid holiday in line with statutory regulations.

Purpose                            To provide relief cover (due to sickness, holidays etc.) in the transportation of pupils from their homes to        school and return in a prompt, professional and safe manner.  To cover ad hoc school functions and sports fixtures.  To keep the interior and exterior of the minibus you are responsible for clean and tidy.  

This is a great opportunity for professional driver to join our team in a prestigious Boarding and Day School in Dover.  This relief driver role will see the successful candidate provide cover during times of sickness and holiday to ensure the smooth transportation of pupils to and from Dover College as part of their School day with additional cover for ad hoc school functions and sports fixtures.
