Here is a description, written in 2007 by Bernice McCabe in the Telegraph, which is something like the model towards which I believe Dover College strives and which explicates the values which really do matter here.

My daughter is at Dover College and I can confirm that Dover College is this and more. She has been there a year and loves everything about school. And I know that she is very much treated as an individual within the lovely family atmosphere that is created at the school. Even as parents we get to know many of the children over the time spent in celebration assemblies, sports days, concerts and other events. Thank you.
