Football and Hockey at Dover College

Football is a well established game at Dover College. It is played by all boys in the Michaelmas Term. The introduction of football in 1998 has proved to be a great success and at present the school has eight football scholars some of whom play for professional clubs such as Chelsea and Millwall. In recent years boys have left Dover College after completing their A levels and have achieved  football scholarships to Loughborough University and have been awarded playing contracts with Brentwood and Gillingham Football Clubs.

There is a Sporting Scholarship Day held once a year in which children are able to come along to show their various talents. Several of the boys have collected representative honours over the last two years. Dover College is represented at District, County and English independent schoolboy level.

Hockey has always been a traditional game played by both the boys and girls. Girls' hockey has been steadily developing over the last few seasons. This season the girls have represented the school in two county tournaments. Girls are encouraged to take part in the scholarship day.

The school aims to reintroduce the opportunity of pupils being able to go on Tour, with a joint senior Football and Hockey Tour to Spain.
