520 children aged 8 to 11 to take part in Inter-primary schools’ Cross Country Event 2009

Dover College is proud to announce the 8th annual Junior Inter-School Cross Country Event due to take place Monday the 9th of March at Farthingloe Grounds, Dover.

This year 520 children from 16 local primary schools are registered whilst several schools have had to be turned down. This is now one of the largest Junior Cross Country event in the South East of England.

The Mayor of Dover is a Guest of Honour and will be presenting the Mayor's Shield which was introduced last year.

Dover College's Infant and Junior Head, Mrs Heather Miller, commented: “We are proud to offer this great sporting occasion to the local community from Canterbury, Deal, Ashford, Sandwich, Broadstairs and Folkestone. With the present educational trend of encouraging young children to take more physical exercise a Cross Country event like this provides them and their school with something to aim for. It is an opportunity to bring the community together and for children to compete not only against each other but against their own personal bests.”

Dover College would like to wish all participating pupils the best of luck for the races and may the best ones win!
