Dover College's Prep-schools Football Tournament

Dover College held its Annual Prep-Schools 5 Aside Tournament on Wednesday 24th September. The weather held out and some excellent football was able to be played. There were 7 schools involved in the competition with 12 teams overall, the competition was split into two pools, with the top two teams going through into the next year. The favourites were last year's winners Junior Kings who had a player on the Chelsea books and several other talented players. Dover College drew their opening match against St Edmunds School and then proceeded to draw again against Dulwich B team before loosing to Junior Kings but winning their final game against Northbourne Park B's. This unfortunately was not enough and the boys did not make the semi-finals. The semi-finals were played between St Edmunds and Dulwich and Junior Kings and Wellesley House, St Edmunds made it to the final with a 2-0 win but Junior Kings' game went to penalties, beating Dulwich 1-0. The overall final went to penalties but it was St Edmunds who became victorious beating Junior Kings 1-0. Third place was won by Dulwich who beat Wellesley 2-0. Special mention must be given to the referees for giving up their time and also to the catering department at Dover College for excellent refreshments, as well as a thank you to the grounds staff at Dover College for the superb playing surfaces they produced.
