Students in Years 8 & 9 have been learning about the Epiphany celebrations in France and in particular the Galette des Rois, a cake traditionally shared by friends and family alike. It celebrates the arrival of the Three Wise Men in Bethlehem.
Composed of a puff pastry cake, with a small charm, the ‘fève’, hidden inside, it is usually filled with frangipane, butter, eggs and sugar.
Their prep this week has been to either translate the recipe from French to English or to bake the famous Galette des Rois themselves. Many students were up to the task as Rosie and Harry from Year 9, and Verity from Year 8 rose to the challenge and provided us with delicious treats for the end of the lesson. There was even some left for the staff at break-time!
