Year 9 student Tom has spent his half-term holiday competing at the Clay-Shooting Magazine Clay Classic. After shooting well in the Qualifying round on Wednesday, Tom had to wait until Saturday to find out if he had made the top 12 to go through to Sunday’s Super Final. Thankfully, Tom qualified in both his Class (C Class) and his Category (16 and Under).
In the Final, Tom shot 24 out of a possible 30 birds; a highly respectable score when you consider that 27 World Champion George Digweed shot a 27 out of 30! Tom’s result meant that he won his Class earning himself the top cash prize in that category, a pair of AimCam Pro camera shooting glasses, a trophy, gold medal, and 1000nr Ely Cartridges.
However, in the 16 and Under class, his score meant he was tied another Colt, resulting in a 30 bird shoot-out with another Colt to decide the winner. The shoot-out was a best-of-30 sim bird which means that both clays are fired at the same time. Again, Tom shot very well with a score 21 out of 30, but was just out scored by his competitor.
As a result, Tom is still leading the Premier League after 5 rounds, with 6 rounds still to go. Tom is optimistic he can retain his overall lead in the standings and we will all be keeping a close eye on his results.
