Junior School Raises £400 to Help Maya Nash

14th February 19

Maya Nash, is a remarkable young lady who attends Reception class at Lyminge Primary School, with her friend Grace Mills, a Dover College Nursery Alumni. Maya has had a very aggressive form of stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma. Maya’s family need to raise £243,000 by 23rd February 2019 to be part of a clinical trial that could help keep her cancer away. Maya’s family are hoping Maya can access the Bivalent Vaccine clinical trial at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York, to try to increase the chances of the cancer staying away. This treatment is not available in the UK.

In order to support Maya, Grace who loved spending time in the Discovery Garden, hosted an Outdoor Craft Morning on Saturday, 2nd February which was a huge success which spurred Dover College Junior school to continue the fundraising the effort taking part in #MayaMonday on 11th a Kent wide initiative across schools, nurseries and businesses in the county. Pupils wore their own clothes and hosted a series of bake sales selling cakes and bakes to parents, pupils and staff at the College.

In total Dover College raised £400 which has been donated to Maya Nash’s urgent appeal via Solving Kid’s Cancer. We wish Maya and her family the very best in their fundraising and for a happy and healthy future.
