The pupils in Muddy Knees and Pre Prep have enjoyed an extremely colourful week as they discover, explore and learn all about Chinese New Year.
In Pre Prep the children began the week by making their own colourful Chinese dragons out of paper, card and egg boxes stuck together with an abundance of glue and paint. After cleaning up, pupils then played chop stick games which looked extremely tricky – can you pick up a cheerio using chopsticks?
The theme of Chinese New Year continued in the Pre Prep PE lesson where they energetically danced to Chinese music. The week concluded with a visit to Imperial China, a Chinese restaurant in Ashford where the children enjoyed a range of delicious Chinese food. The noodles were a particular favourite!
In Muddy Knees the children enjoyed watching some dragon dancing which they later reinacted with their own dragon which they had made. Pupils then learnt about the story of Chinese New Year creating their own animal race to demonstrate as it was the year of the Rat, the rat won the race! They also visited the Chinese restaurant for a wonderful lunch.
Looking ahead it is going to be another busy week for the youngest members of the Dover College family and we look forward to sharing the excitement of the week in the next edition or alternatively follow us on Dover College Facebook or @DoverMuddyKnees on Twitter.
