Dover College were honoured to host the long standing U13’s rugby fixture of Deal and Betteshanger against Canterbury.
The teams were evenly matched throughout the game. Playing on a slightly smaller pitch pushed the boys further as the back row had less running space. This was definitely a forwards game and the boys kept pushing through the entire game.
The game was ably refereed by Leamington Housemaster Mr Hill who came out of retirement (again) to take charge of a very even game. The final score of 2-2 was a very fair representation of the game.
We also welcomed the Deal and Betteshanger Lionesses who trained at the college and then watched the game. The college is a great supporter of female rugby and one or our remove pupils Libby plays for the team.
The school catering department did a great job looking after parents and players alike.
The player of the match went to Leamington boy Hector and the donkey jacket (awarded to the players player) went to Jimmy for having the least amount of travel to get to the match as he lives next to the pitch.
We look forward to seeing the players here again next term.
