In what has been an extraordinary month, not to mention year, Dover College’s GCSE results highlight the incredible progress made by its pupils. There were many superb individual performances from within this diverse cohort, reflecting the hard work and dedication pupils have shown in their studies over the two years.
We are delighted that our overall pass rate, which was significantly above the national average, has increased over last year. Value added was also impressive, with pupils averaging half a grade higher in each of their subjects than the external baseline test taken at the start of their courses suggested they might. In a school which prides itself on being academically non-selective, this is an important indicator that strong progress is being made by pupils of all abilities.
We wish all pupils luck with their Sixth Form studies when the school reopens on Wednesday 9th September.
