The School day for the Senior School pupils commences 8.30am with registration in houses before teaching started promptly at 8.40am to maximise pupils’ alertness and concentration. Each lesson is 40 minutes in length with a break mid-morning, at lunch and mid-afternoon.
Our timetable offers a considerable amount of contact time, particularly in core subjects. All pupils have a timetabled tutor period, which allows tutors dedicated time to monitor and support the academic progress of the pupils under their care. Pupils attend Chapel twice a week as well as a Senior School assembly.
All activities and games sessions take place in the afternoon with every child having a minimum of two hours of games lessons each week. Pupils in years 7 and 8 have two sessions of activities per week, as well as a timetabled prep session at the end of the day so that they may complete their homework before the end of the school day. Pupils in years 9-13 have a minimum of one session of activity per week but there are also opportunities to do other activities throughout the day such as instrumental and LAMDA lessons and the chapel choir.
The school day officially ends at 5.30pm for day pupils when they are collected by parents / guardians or depart on the school buses.
On Saturdays morning, pupils in years 9-13 will be invited to attend curriculum enrichment sessions and there will also be educational trips.
