A commitment to excellence and opportunity in education.
Pupils in Shell and Remove year groups follow a broad and connected curriculum with thematic teaching designed to encourage our pupils to think differently. Each half term, all departments work on a common theme, which is also linked to the IDEALS of Round Square.
There is a focus on the development of skills which are key to prepare our pupils for tomorrow’s world such as problem solving, decision making, handling information, creativity, collaboration and communication. The schemes of work across the curriculum give our pupils explicit opportunities to develop and assess these skills in each lesson and this is an integral part of lesson planning and objectives.
Pupils also have the opportunity to use their learning and experience with the themes learnt in lessons towards a creative project for which they can express themselves in a wide variety of form.
Pupils study the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science. They will also study History, Geography, French, Spanish, PE, Computer Science, Art, Design Technology, Music, Drama, Business Studies, Economics, Religious Studies, Media Studies and English as an Additional Language is taught to International pupils requiring it.
A structured Personal and Social Education course, including Digital Learning, is also delivered and aims to foster a greater understanding of today’s society and assist pupils in taking responsibility for their own and others’ well-being.
