The Dover College International Study Centre’s aim is to improve our international students’ English language skills whilst supporting them to achieve their goals.

Mrs Shefford and Mrs Hebblethwaite- have over 10 years’ experience teaching English as an Additional Language
All sixth form students that wish to attend a British University sit the IELTS exam at Chaucer College, Canterbury.
The ISC prepares these students to be academically and linguistically ready to sit their IELTS exam in either November, March or June.
Most universities require 6 for a foundation course, 6.5 for normal entry to an undergraduate course. Some art colleges only require 5.5 for a foundation course. Medicine, law, dentistry, journalism require higher grades of 7+.
This year, in March 2020, we had a 100% pass rate with one student scoring an impressive 8.5.
EAL Lessons p/ week
All sixth form international students have a minimum of 6 timetabled EAL lessons per week.
Additionally, we provide additional, personalised 1-1 EAL support lessons.
Every weekend, there is a Saturday morning IELTS club.
We celebrate the Autumn Moon Festival, Chinese New Year and our lessons are brought to life though debates, performance, plays and student presentations.
IT has a part to play in EAL lessons and, particularly since recent lockdown measures, many students now access lesson content via Google Classroom as well as using their laptops in class to access online resources.
