Leamington’s Lucas Wood (U6) took part in the International Tennis Federation’s (ITF) Junior World Tour tournament in Liepaja, Latvia over the Summer, where he lost in the 2nd round to Lithuania’s Dominykas Stonkus. Whilst the results may not have gone his way, Lucas was happy to have experienced international competition for the first time. “It was exciting to get out to Latvia and compete at that level”, said Lucas.
Lucas trains for 12-15 hours a week at Canterbury’s Polo Farm club alongside studying for A Levels in Spanish and Business Studies, as well as Level 2 BTEC in Sport. He is also currently in the process of applying for tennis scholarships to top American Universities where he hopes his sporting development and academic success can continue.

He will next be in action in October when he travels to Jelgava in Latvia. Thanks to his performances in Liepaja, Lucas has been awarded a wildcard entry to the main draw and is hopeful of greater success.
We wish Lucas the very best of luck with his upcoming tournament.
