From April 2021, Dover College seeks to appoint an inspiring and innovative Teacher of Science. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Science and will be capable of teaching across the College’s age range. This may include some Prep School classes. The College offers Double Award Science at GCSE and Biology, Chemistry and Physics at A Level.

Accommodation may be available for the right candidate, in return for resident boarding duties.

Maintenance Apprentice

Dover College is looking for an enthusiastic individual who will be able to handle the day-to-day tasks necessary to keep the College grounds and gardens looking their best. The sort of work requires the successful candidate to have a strong sense of attention to detail, enthusiasm, energy and a can do attitude.

The apprenticeship involves on the job work based learning at Dover College with study days at Plumpton College for a NVQ Level 2 in Horticulture. The ideal person will have initiative, will be willing to collaborate with the ability to work within a team. You will therefore also have a professional appearance and attitude. Duties will include both mechanical and manual operations and will cover the broad spectrum of gardens and grounds maintenance including edging, grass cutting, weeding, planting of trees/shrubs and seasonal bedding, pruning, small tree works, leaf clearance, watering, seasonal lawn maintenance, beds and borders maintenance and keeping paths clear. Ground duties of grass and artificial sports pitch maintenance including cricket table preparation, marking out erection and dismantling of sports equipment for a wide variety of sports.

The role is a full-time (40 hours per week). You will be entitled to 26 days’ paid holiday plus bank holidays.

MAINTENANCE APPRENTICE INFORMATION PACK

Grounds & Gardens Apprentice

We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Apprentice to carry out general maintenance work around the College site including plumbing, joinery, bricklaying/concreting, other general maintenance and decorating. This role will complement the syllabus of the Construction Maintenance Operative apprenticeship course.

The ideal person will have initiative, will be willing to collaborate, and possess the ideal balance of capability and potential for future advancement. On the job training and mentoring will be available from our skilled Maintenance Manager.

The ability to work in a team is crucial. You will therefore also have a professional appearance and attitude.

The role is full-time (40 hours per week) but you will be released to attend your educational setting in accordance with your apprenticeship course requirements. You will be entitled to 26 days’ paid holiday plus bank holidays.
