Our Catering team of professional and experienced chefs prepare breakfast, lunch and supper each day. All pupils, day and boarding, take their meals in the College’s beautiful and historic Refectory. Well-balanced and nutritious meals are prepared using fresh ingredients, sourced where possible from local suppliers, and are completely nut free. 

A large selection of dishes are readily available at mealtimes, including a range of vegetarian options and an abundance of fresh fruit, vegetables and salads. Lunch and supper options change weekly and typically include homemade soups with freshly made bread, a pasta dish, jacket potatoes with a host of different fillings and a main dish followed hot and cold desert options. We are able to cater for special dietary requirements such as dairy/lactose intolerance and gluten-free.

Meal times at Dover College offer an opportunity for pupils, staff and resident families to dine together and enjoy each other’s company. In addition, all houses have kitchen facilities.

There are calendared ‘themed events’ in which the menus are tailored to a theme or nationality. These include French, Spanish and German evenings, along with a celebratory Chinese New Year banquet. These events are very popular with both the pupils and staff, as they provide an interesting insight into the culinary cuisine of other countries and are a perfect opportunity for our chefs to showcase their skills.

Boarders’ birthdays do not go unmarked. Our chefs bake cakes and present them to pupils at supper, to mark the special occasion.
