We are seeking a dedicated, experienced, and qualified Nursery Manager to lead the exciting expansion of our well-established nursery, situated within the beautiful grounds of Dover College, a thriving independent school.

From September 2025, our provision will extend to welcome children aged 2 years and above, and we will transition to offering 48 weeks per year childcare. This marks an exciting new chapter in our early years provision, and we are looking for an enthusiastic leader to shape and guide it.

About the Role:
As Nursery Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the nursery, ensuring the highest standards of care, learning, and compliance are upheld. You will lead and support a small team of Early Years Practitioners, develop engaging curriculum plans aligned with the EYFS framework, and work in close partnership with families, colleagues, and the wider school community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clear leadership and strategic direction to the nursery team
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory and safeguarding standards
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment
  • Oversee planning and delivery of activities in line with the EYFS
  • Support and develop staff through effective coaching and mentoring
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with parents and carers
  • Collaborate closely with the Deputy Head (Prep School) to support pupil retention into the next stage of their education
  • Requirements
    Minimum Level 3 qualification in Early Years (as per the Early Years Qualification List)
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a leadership or management role within an early years setting
  • Strong knowledge of EYFS, safeguarding, and statutory requirements
  • Exceptional communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team
  • A proactive and nurturing approach to early childhood education
  • Passionate about delivering high-quality care and early learning experiences
  • Confident in coaching, mentoring, and supporting staff development
